Mandate / Power of attorney ≠ mandat
Le mandat (pouvoir donné à quelqu'un d'agir) se dit power of attorney, authority ou agency ; le mandataire, the agent ou the attorney ; le mandant, the principal. A mandate, en anglais, = une mission confiée, un ordre, ou une autorisation de prélèvement.
« He acts under a mandate from the shareholders » est compréhensible, mais « He holds a power of attorney » ou he is authorised to act on behalf of est la formulation attendue. Le mandat social se dit directorship / office ; un mandataire social, a company officer ou a director.
Le mandat d'arrêt : arrest warrant. Le mandat SEPA : direct debit mandate — ici le mot convient.
